Fitting Quality Assurance Recognition
A Fitting Quality Assurance Recognition is awarded to individuals who possess certain foot-related professional credentials and who pledge that they will use their skills in assessment, sizing and fitting to provide their clients with Integrated Solutions™ each time they fit those clients with new footwear. Specifically, the applicant must:
  • Demonstrate that he/she uses and retains client information files summarizing each client’s foot sizing and assessment findings
  • Possess a copy of current and in-force certification from ABC or BOC evidencing his/her certification as a Fitter of Therapeutic Shoes, as a Footwear Specialist, as a Pedorthist, as an Orthotist, or as a Prosthetist; OR a copy of a DPM diploma from a recognized school of podiatric medicine; OR other recognized documentation from any other discipline that offers appropriate professional accreditation in this field.
  • Attest that he/she has been trained to analyze gait, assess the presentation of the human foot and properly fit footwear to feet.
  • Pledge to fit footwear to clients’ feet using the Institute for Preventive Foot Health’s Preventive Foot Health Pathway (found here: http://www.ipfh.org/pathway.php) and The Integrated Solution™.
  • Pledge to evaluate clients’ gait, balance and walking biomechanics, and size the client’s feet using a Brannock device (or another recognized sizing apparatus) in both weight-bearing and non-weight-bearing positions both barefooted and with engineered, padded socks or hosiery appropriate for the intended application.
  • Pledge that, if appropriate, he/she will replace the footbed of any footwear shown the client with a commercially available prefabricated insert or, if needed, with a custom designed orthotic device; and that they will present only footwear that is appropriate for the intended use to the client and in the size(s) needed to accommodate the replacement footbed (if any), the engineered padded socks or hosiery appropriate for the intended application, and the client’s feet.
  • Pledge that he/she will fit clients every time with engineered padded socks or hosiery appropriate for the intended application, an insert/orthotic (if needed and as appropriate) and the appropriate footwear – all as a system.
